1. Why should
I install BarcodeTicket ?
The main reason is so you can have your own ticketing system, secondly
with such a system your customers information will not be "shared"
by the service provider and your security-trust is enhanced. You
will also have more control over the management of this system to
include your own design. This is perhaps the most important aspect of utility where you can add your own codes
to do things you like. Our licensing agreement allow you to copy a backup copy (no modification) and another copy with your own modification to suit your needs.
For the experience programmer, it means able to add more features as required by management.
There is of course limits to this, for example you are not allow to reverse engineer our DLLs which mainly house our random number generator.
2. Run my own
system ? Isn't that difficult ?
In theory yes but our system is basically a web-based system where
everything is done over the web. So if you know how to use a browser,
you know how to use this system. We also provide limited free on-line consultation
to get you going. Although our systems are designed to be installed
on the fly, we do provide the "holding" hands service
where we guide you with the installation process.
3. What do I
get for the basic system ?
You get everything you see on this website and a license to use
it for ONE machine. Please read the license requirements carefully.
4. How can I
be certain there are no hidden charges ?
Absolutely none. For USD 450 (or AUD 900), you get what you see
on this website.
At the moment, our technical support will guide you on integrating
BarcodeTicket into your system free, if you require this
service. You need to provide us with permission to access your system
and set the folder where we will place the files to be readable/writable.
You should be aware you need an SSL to secure the transmission from
your client's site to yours. SSL is required if you are using Authorize.net.
For 2checkout and paypal there is no requirement.
If you intend to establish the system yourself, the additional
costs (guide only) would involve :
SSL for encryption of secured online transactions. See www.SSL.com.
Digital Certificate to verify your web-site's identity to users. There are many providers but one of the most popular is Verisign.
A server, if you do not already have one. Or, you can rent from us.
An Operating system such as Win NT 4.0 or Win2000 Server and their
service and option packs, latest version.
Microsoft Office 97 or 2000.
* SSL and the digital certificate will set you back by USD 300
++. We are a Microsoft Reseller and can provide the Windows software,
if you require.
BarcodeTicket anticipates porting our system to Linux in
the near future, running on JAVA, which will translate into further
cost-savings for our clients. We will advise accordingly of the
implementation but generally, installation usually requires some
prior knowledge and experience working in the Linux environment.
5. I want to
use this system to do something else.
There are many suitable applications that we can think of including security documentation where the need to authenticate ownership of the document is critical.

us for more information.
6. Can I make
changes to BarcodeTicket's program ?
Users are welcome to customize the interface of BarcodeTicket
as they wish and report bugs which need fixing.
We do require a formal request in writing (letter not email), to
seek consent for any major changes to the main program. Please address
to EcorpNu's main office in Sydney and provide full details
and explanation.
We are always happy to receive new ideas which may be incorporated
into BarcodeTicket. We will definately acknowledge all contributions.
Please read the End-User
Licence Agreement for BarcodeTicket Software prior to
purchase and use.
7. Is your system
e-commerce-enabled and secure ?
Yes, in a real situation (not the demonstration) the whole system
is placed in a secured environment (such as SSL). The current setup for Authorize.net is for test only.
8. Tell me more
about BarcodeTicket's "Economic Value".
Broadly speaking, the average cost of booking a ticket charged by
agents starts from US 2.5 which is payable by your clients. By purchasing
this system, the breakeven point is roughly 200 clients. To make this system works for itself, you need to
have at least 2000 ticket buyers a year or costing 22.5 cents per ticket. But you also save in zero posting cost. No delay to clients and less staff.
You must see that on the internet, nobody knows you are a dog so
if ticketmaster can market themselves, why can't you do the same
and keep the cost down. All you need is a reliable software and
word of mouth to get started and stay in business.
There are external costs as well, such as having your own server
and your merchant facility which roughly add another US 1 per client
over the useful life of this product (basing this calculation on
300 clients a year).
However, there is absolutely no requirement for a system adminstrator
to run this service. If you know how to operate a browser then everything
is that simple after the installation stage. The installation does
not require much effort and only a basic understanding of networking
protocols such as SSL, ftp, access database and uploading of files
and so on. Our support personnel can assist you in the installation,
so you need not worry.
We suggest you implement BarcodeTicket gradually by offering
say 25% of your tickets in the beginning and slowly increase it
when your clients get comfortable with it. The best part is that
since you will be providing this service under your own web address,
your clients will feel more comfortable knowing that they are dealing
directly with you.
The truth is that, business models may change, but e-commerce is
here to stay. You have a choice to buy an expensive system to toy
with or a simple but affordable one so to build up your knowledge
before venturing beyond.
Installing BarcodeTicket does not necessarily resolve any
current problem your enterprise is facing, but it will streamline
your operations, leaving you with new opportunities to understand
the complexity of your business. Our management tool allows you
to target your customers using email and solicit their comments,
something that no current system can do. Email is afterall the most
affordable direct marketing tool you can use. If you are familiar
with database such as Access, then you can write your own macro
to sort and dice the data to your heart content.
9. Can I buy
this system from someone else ?
Of course, but their price will be more expensive. For example,
just the barcode module alone cost about US 240 (the barcode module
allows you to print the barcodes). You are welcome to check prices
and come back to us.
10. Tell me
more about BarcodeTicket's Verification System.
BarcodeTicket uses two layers of security to verify tickets
sold.
The first is a barcode affixed on the ticket, which can be verified
only once. This number which represents
the barcode is randomly generated and combined with some unique
information taken from your client's details and encrypted (not
necessarily in this order).
Secondly, we have also included a password attached to the ticket
for added security. You may wish to disable this as an option as
you can image that to clear each client will take longer. But this
process is considered more secured since only the client knows the
password and hence ownership of ticket is established.
Given that BarcodeTicket is a LIVE system, we envisage that
at times, the Internet can fail. It is thus advisable is
to download the database containing vital information to a local
machine for verification promptly or at least 10 minutes before
starting time. Verification on a local machine not linked to the
Internet is then more convienient.
In most instances, the server can be placed locally with a fast
connection to the Internet, hence enabling you to provide internet
access to your clients and at the same time provide verification
locally. This will be the most attractive option if you can secure
low cost connection through your Internet Service Provider. Currently,
in Australia, local ISPs charge from AUD 70/month for a cable connection
which is sufficient for moderate usage. This is only an indication.
If you have further questions on security, please clarify
with us.
